London-based firm Travers Smith reported one of the largest increases in profits per equity partner in the UK top 50, with its figure jumping 24 per cent to £804,000. That increase came alongside an 18 per cent boost in revenue, which climbed from £71m in 2010/2011 to £83.8m.
Travers managing partner Andrew Lilley told Legal Week: ‘There's something straightforward about this growth: it's simply being much busier across the year in the areas that we focus on, which is extremely gratifying. We have promoted our offering a bit better to clients, in terms of sector focus and cross selling, for example, and, of course, there is always a bit of luck involved too.’
Elsewhere, London-based international private client specialist practice Withers increased total revenue for 2011-12 to £113.3 million, up from £100.8m the year before. Profit per equity partner jumped from £322,760 last year to £383,325.
And Anglo-US global giant DLA Piper posted a double digit increase in turnover for business outside the US, leaping 16 per cent to £701.6m, according to Legal Week newspaper. Profits per-equity-partner figures also saw a healthy rise of 6 per cent, climbing to £563,90
