Cyber security company FireEye says that it has spotted cyber criminals trying to hack over 100 companies, law firms and investment advisers in search of information which would move the markets and affect share prices. The so-called Fin 4 group behind the scam is concentrating in particular on the pharma sector. Two-thirds of its activity is focused there. Fin 4 appears not to be hacking banks, possibly because it believes their protections are too strong.
Drug trials
Fin 4 is using the route of sending out emails which appear genuine but which contain malicious links. The hackers are searching in particular for confidental inbox information on drug trials and other developments that can affect share prices. Source: Financial Times
