Lawyer chased for debts from Scotland to Panama

Michael Karus, a lawyer who has in the past been jailed for stealing from an estate and who sued his mother when she was suffering from dementia, is being pursued around the globe for unpaid debts, according to a Scottish newspaper.

The 53-year old was evicted from his £1m flat in Edinburgh in October by a mortgage company. Another creditor is trying to trace assets worth £400,000 which they now believe to be in Panama. Mr Karus was sent to jail for three and a half years in 2009 for stealing from an estate. He had been suspended from acting as a lawyer in 2002. Source: Daily Record
