Lawyer on trial over US$2m cemetery swindle

Lawyer Timothy Griffin has been indicted on charges that he took nearly US$2m from the United Hebrew Cemetery on Staten Island between 2012 and last month.

He was charged with transferring the money to his own escrow account. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said: 'It's always sad and shocking when we discover that someone used a charity as their own personal piggy bank.' Mr Griffin has pleaded not guilty. Source: New York Daily News
