Swiss law firm Python & Peter has launched its office in Tehran as the country opens for business in the aftermath of the lifting of economic sanctions. The business law and international arbitration specialist was founded in Geneva by four partners in 1981 and has grown to become one of Switzerland's major law firms, with offices in Lausanne, Bern, Sion and Zug. It also has offices in Brussels and Tokyo and has around 60 lawyers across its offices.
CMS entry
The move follows CMS's entry to the market in February, when the firm's German arm opened a dedicated office in the Iranian capital. CMS chair Cornelius Brandi said at the time that the lifting of sanctions opened new opportunities in Iran. The office's lawyers are advising on both Iranian and international law; one of their early projects was to advise on the cooperation agreement between Daimler and Iran Khodro Diesel SSA.
