Teresa Wagner was hired by the university as a part-time writing instructor in 2006 after previous stints at the National Right to Life Committee and the Family Research Council. Ms Wagner is seeking compensation for lost wages and for a full-time teaching position, which she claims was denied to her because of the university’s institutional liberal bias.
Poor presentation
The university maintains that Wagner was rejected for the job following a poor presentation before the faculty, reports the newspaper USA Today. Court documents also argue that Wagner was unwilling to teach legal analysis, one of the aspects of the full-time position.
‘The decision to sue your employer, this has been the hardest decision of my life,’ said Ms Wagner, who testified earlier this week. ‘I regret it. I regret it because I think it burned all my bridges in Iowa City.’
