Legal regulators launch global support network

The first global support network for international legal profession regulatory bodies is to be launched, a meeting of senior figures announced in London today.

Global regulators crack the whip

Delegates at a conference organised by England’s Solicitors Regulation Authority agreed to build a coalition of regulators and develop closer relationships between enforcement bodies and international legal centres.
The International Conference of Legal Regulators was held for the first time this year to consider regulatory enforcement in the rapidly globalising legal market.
‘As the concept began to take shape, it became increasingly clear there was a great pent-up demand for discussion between legal regulators in the world’s leading legal centres,’ said Alison Hook, the SRA’s international adviser.  ‘We hoped this event would be the catalyst for a new network of legal regulators. I’m delighted to see that it now looks as if this is going to be the first of many events.’
