There are 28 countries in the world which makes at least ten legal distinctions between the rights of men and those of women. The worst-offending region is the Middle East, followed by sub-Saharan Africa. Saudi Arabia comes top of the list for limiting women's economic freedom. The World Bank study shows that in more than 120 of the 143 countries it surveyed women are barred from at least one simple freedom - such as opening a bank account or taking on certain jobs.Sarah Iqbal of the World Bank says, according to Arabian Business: 'We have come a long way but still have a great way to go.'
