Legal training heavyweights launch alliance

Two leading legal sector continuing education players have cut a deal for the provision of on-line services to lawyers, it was announced this week.

Law books shelved in favour of on-line learning?

SmartPros Legal & Ethics and LexisNexis have bartered an agreement that sees New York-based SmartPros – a specialist in accredited professional education and corporate training –providing Ohio’s LexisNexis with its eCampus Learning Management System, reports the Nasdaq web site.
LexisNexis will use the system as its core technology, and also as a content delivery platform for its on-line CLE offerings.

SmartPros chairman and chief executive Allen Greene commented on the deal: ‘The combination of Lexis content with SmartPros technology and CLE experience marks the start of a new generation of feature-rich, user-friendly education and training programmes designed for the legal profession.’
