Legance aims to crack London market

Milan and Rome-based Legance is to open a London office next year, the Italian law firm announced earlier this week.

The 33-partner, 160-lawyer practice has appointed a heavy-hitting corporate and private equity specialist – Marco Gubitosi -- to head the outpost in the UK capital, which will be the firm’s first overseas venture.

Elite group

According to Italy-based publication Top Legal International, Mr Gubitosi has previously done stints at local rivals Carnelutti and then Anglo-German global player Freshfields before becoming a partner at another big Italian player, Gianni Origoni.
The magazine points out that Legance will join an elite group of Italian firms that has planted flags in London: Bonellie Erede Pappalardo, Chiomenti, NCTM, Pirola Pennuto Zei, Sutti and Gianni Origoni.
Legance managing partner Giovanni Nardulli said ‘the time is right’ for the firm to crack the London market. The move, he explained, fits ‘right into Legance’s strategy of further expansion in our intentional practice.’
