Linklaters and Skaddens act in Japan-UK insurance deal

The two firms are taking lead advisory roles on the £3.47b purchase of Amlin in the UK by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI).

Tokyo

MSI specialises in non-life insurance - particularly property, motor, casualty, marine and aviation. It is being advised by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in a team led by London corporate partners Scott Hopkins and Robert Stirling and by Tokyo-based Mitsuhiro Kamiya.

Japanese activity

Linklaters has been acting for Amlin, a long-standing client. Japanese companies have been involved in a spate of cross-border takeover activity recently, a trend which is being seen as a way from them to diversify away from their sluggish domestic market. Source: Asian Legal Business
