The company said that it did not know how many employees would be impacted by the change and would be ‘working closely with them over the next few months to help ensure a smooth transition’. Carlo Paolella, head of McDermott’s Italian practice, explained: ‘Following a review of our organisational structure and geographic footprint, we have concluded we could be working much more effectively and efficiently if we streamlined our Italian operations and consolidated our presence in the market by operating from one office - in this case, Milan. This means we will be closing our existing office in Rome.’
