McDermott Will duo join complex litigation team at King & Spalding

The 17-office, international firm King & Spalding practice has recruited the two Washington DC-based partners from its rival in order to strengthen their civil litigation group.

Robert D Hays, chair of King & Spalding, said: 'Few large firms actually try cases, but we are one of them.' The firm now has 800 lawyers. The new joiners are both becoming partners in King & Spalding. They are: Bobby R Burchfield, a trial lawyer who has served as head of complex litigation and co-head of the Washington office of McDermott Will & Emergy; and Matthew M Leland who has represented clients in federal agency investigations and whose clients come from a range of industries including energy, construction and architecture.
