Paul McDermott, 22, suffered severe brain and chest injuries in a traffic collision in 2010. He said that severe memory loss that was caused as a result of the incident caused him to ‘re-assess everything’, reports the BBC.
Mr McDermott now has a four-month-old son and will soon start university to study for a law degree.
‘You just have to set yourself goals and go for them,’ Mr McDermott said. ‘The only way you are going to get anything is to go for it.’
