Mexico: building finance

Mexican building materials giant CEMEX has announced the completion of its refinancing, with New York law firm Cleary Gottlieb taking a major role in the deal.

The firm advised the structuring agents in CEMEX’s debt exchange offer, which is part of the refinancing of approximately $7 billion of CEMEX’s debt through a global, out-of-court process conceived and structured by CEMEX’s largest bank creditors.
Also getting in the deal were London-based magic circle firm Clifford Chance – to advise the bank steering committee (for matters of English and Spanish law) – and Mexico City’s Ritch Mueller (for Mexican law matters).
The Cleary Gottlieb team included partners Richard Cooper, David Lopez and Duane McLaughlin.
