Most of your work is billed at which type of model?

Leading law firm partners answer the big questions

The obituary of the billable hour has been written repeatedly for the last decade at least, but still law firms cling tenaciously to the principle that the clock is the best gauge of their value. Of course, doing so allows them the huge advantage of ‘thinking time’, which means firms can bill while their lawyers are doing almost anything -- from going for their early morning jog to brushing their teeth. But increasing pressure from corporate clients and the effects of the financial crisis may combine finally to bury the billable hour, although our survey of law firms shows it’s got some life in it yet.
