Name partner moves to new practice after 44 years

Michael V Ciresi, a leading New York and Minneapolis litigator who has won US$12b for clients over his career, is leaving his 230-lawyer firm to set up a new small practice.

Minneapolis

As of 1 February, he and two fellow partners will be working in a newly set-up firm, Ciresi & Conlin. Mr Ciresi used to be the chair of the executive board of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, the firm he now works at. He has driven the firm's litigation side, according to his Robins, Kaplan profile - specialising in cases on product liability, IP and business and commercial litigation.

More freedom

He explained his move by saying: 'The feeling of comfort and convenience is always overcome by challenge and the unknown. You broaden yourself by always aspiring to do something new.' The split is amicable, he said, but he wanted more freedom to take on charitable work and broaden the range of clients. The new firm will start with a base of at least seven lawyers. Source: ABA
