New arbitration centre for Asia

Arbitration centre focused on China and ASEAN to launch in Singapore

Corporates interested in the Belt and Road Initiative may be paying much interest the launch of a new international arbitration centre focused on disputes between parties in China and the ASEAN region.

August launch

The new centre will be launched in Singapore on Aug. 8. The Beihai Asia International Arbitration Centre (BAIAC) is being established by China’s Beihai Arbitration Commission, and claims to be the first centre in Singapore providing arbitration and ADR services to Chinese and ASEAN parties for disputes arising from cross-border trade, as well as potential disputes arising from the Belt and Road Initiative and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The Beihai Arbitration Commission was established by the Judicial Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2003.
