Lawyers from Proskauer Rose and Skadden represented the NHL in talks with the National Hockey League Players' Association as the deadlock was finally broken after 114 days of stuttering negotiations.

Long session

At the end of a 16-hour session, a 10-year contract was agreed that will split revenue equally between players and owners, reports the Am Law Daily. The tentative deal, which ends fears of a potentially disastrous cancellation of the NHL season, ensures peace between the two camps until 2020. The season has already lost nearly half its 82 regular season matches owing to the dispute and lock-out.

Legal teams

The NHL team was led by Proskauer employment partners Robert Batterman and Joseph Baumgarten, and Skadden antitrust practice leader Shepard Goldfein and partners James Keyte and Paul Eckles.
Skadden corporate partners Marc Packer and Thomas Gowan are also advising the league on the proposed sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to an investor group.
