Nixon Peabody debuts in SingaporeThe alliance will see the Boston-based Global 100 firm open a representative outpost at Angeline Suparto’s office in Singapore that will be licensed only to engage in promotional and liaison work, not the provision of legal services. Founded in 2001, Angeline Suparto currently employs seven lawyers and focuses on cross-border work involving the Indonesian market. Nixon Peabody managing partner for China & Asia-Pacific David Cheng believes that pared-down association ‘aligns nicely’ with the firm’s existing Asia practices in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and may lay the foundations for a more comprehensive Singapore offering in the future. The firm’s Hong Kong office was born from a merger with legacy local outfit Cheng Wong Lam & Partners in 2010, following a two-year association between the two firms.
