NY law firm faces 'massive overbilling' claim

A former client of New York-based Wilk Auslander is suing the law firm in federal court for malpractice, citing a 'massive overbilling for needless work' stemming from the defence of several securities class actions.

Too much? Wilk Auslander accused of overcharging

The ex-client – Connecticut investment management company Westport Capital – and two individual plaintiffs have also accused the firm of revealing confidential information.
However, named partner Jay Auslander has disputed the allegations, claiming the law suit is a tactic to avoid a bill dispute. ‘We sued them, and this is surely a tactical response to that litigation,’ Mr Auslander told the ABA Journal, adding that the $200,000 amount at issue in the New York state court legal bill dispute is very reasonable for the  type of action involved.
