Over 40pc of in-house lawyers fear corruption investigation

About 44 per cent of senior in-house lawyers believe that an anti-corruption investigation into their company is 'possible' or 'likely' within the next two years.

A survey of over 300 senior in-house lawyers by Control Risks has found high levels of concern about the possibility of being investigated. Over half (54 per cent) believe the greatest challenge they face is 'dealing with the requirements of local law enforcement authorities and dealing with local data protection laws'. 

Data security

Another 27 per cent see the greatest challenge as 'ensuring the security of data while it moves between jurisdictions'. Some 35 per cent have no formal policy statement forbidding bribery, and 60 per cent lack a whisteblower's line for staff to make confidential reports on suspected corruption.
