Prominent IP litigator Rudy Kim has moved to Paul Hastings as partner in its Palo Alto office after more than 15 years at Morrison Foerster where he chaired its Silicon Valley litigation group.
With more than 20 years’ experience, Kim has represented clients in IP and technology-related litigation in federal district and appellate courts, in private arbitrations, and before the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and the US Patent and Trademark Office.
His clients include technology enterprises focused on semiconductors, autonomous vehicles, computer hardware and software, data storage, and wireless and medical devices, including companies like AEM, Autodesk, Kahoot!, Netgear, Palo Alto Networks, Tencent, TSMC, and Uber, among others.
Paul Hastings’ chair, Frank Lopez, said: ”With Rudy's impressive patent litigation experience, we add further breadth to our widely recognised IP litigation practice while also demonstrating our ongoing commitment to grow in California with premier legal talent. We couldn't be happier that he has joined us.”
Kim’s hiring is part of a move to expand the US law firm’s IP practice and global litigation team. The hiring streak includes IP additions Jason Raeburn in London who was previously at Baker McKenzie, former Perkins Coie partner Doug Sawyer in Chicago, Keker Van Nest & Peters' Matthias Kamber in California and Kecia Reynolds in Washington DC, who was previously at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
Other litigators who have recently joined the firm include securities litigators Brad Bondi and Jennifer Conn, trial lawyer Josh Berman in New York and international arbitration partner Garreth Wong in London.
Kim said: “I’ve followed Paul Hastings' IP practice for some time and have been impressed with the calibre of its IP litigation, ITC and PTAB practices. With the firm's extraordinary momentum and growth in other key practice areas, and its track record of litigation success, this is an exciting time to join this exceptional team of litigators. I look forward to helping the firm continue to grow its platform and its presence in Silicon Valley."
