Pepper Hamilton opens in Silicon Valley

The 500-lawyer practice Pepper Hamilton has opened a Silicon Valley office, recruiting three former Goodwin Procter partners in the process.

Opening in the Valley Pincasso

Gregory S Bishop, one of the three ex-Goodwin partners, will be partner in charge of the new office. A second Goodwin partner, Thomas F Fitzpatrick, will become co-chair of the national IP litigation practice, along with existing incumbents Paul J Kennedy (from Philadelphia) and Goutam Patnaik (from Washington). The third Goodwin partner is Andy H Chan, a specialist on patent litigation involving complicated technology.

Strategically important

The firm's chief executive officer Scott Green said: 'While Pepper Hamilton has long had a presence in Southern California, the northern part of the state is strategically important as it is where many of our clients are based.'  The firm already has bases in Orange County, California and Los Angeles.
