Ohio’s Jones day is one of the more prominent firms involved in expansion plans after it announced its intention to launch an Amsterdam office early next year.
London-based newspaper Legal Week reports that the office will initially concentrate on the areas of corporate and mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, litigation and competition, and will be led by Luc Houben, who was previously the head of the Brussels outpost.
Dublin expansion
The Amsterdam office is expected to open soon after the firm’s third German office in Dusseldorf in February.
Meanwhile, London’s Berrymans Lace Mawer has opened a Dublin office as part of its own expansion strategy. The UK Top 50 firm says the office will target the motor, liability and property damage claims fields.
Paris-based firm Lefèvre Pelletier & Associés has established a further presence in China through a Beijing-centred alliance with TransAsia Lawyers. The firm has had a presence in the country since 1998, and continues to build on its Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai offices.
Brazil boost
The French practice also announced the launch of an alliance with Brazilian law firm Andrade Pannunzio Ricardo Foz Hypolito e Gabbai Advogados. The association was completed with the intention on building on the growing business ties between the two countries, specifically the booming growth of French investments in Brazil and the trend of Brazilian companies to invest abroad.
In compliance with Brazilian bar regulations, both firms will remain strictly independent.
