The Moscow office – set to open on 1 May – will be located in Lesnaya Plaza in central Moscow and will be dedicated to meeting the needs of international clients with commercial interests and intellectual property issues in Russia.
Growing demand
The office will be run by Rouse executive Stuart Adams, supported by Yana Tsygankova and Thomas Leger.
Mr Adams is Rouse’s global head of dispute resolution and spent a number of years heading the firm’s operations in Dubai. Ms Tsygankova and Mr Leger both join Rouse from a Moscow IP specialist firm where they specialised in trademark work with a number of global brands.
Rouse Chief Executive Rupert Ross-Macdonald, said: ‘We have worked in the Russian market via associated firms for many years, but have been aware of a growing demand from clients to provide services directly in the country. Establishing a base in Moscow will ensure we continue to deliver exceptional service and support to our clients.
IP protection
Mr Adams added: ‘The burgeoning demand for quality IP legal services in the country - from both international and domestic clients - makes Russia a natural location for us. The country’s IP regime has undergone significant, positive changes in recent years, culminating with the country’s accession to the World Trade Organisation in 2012 - now is the right time for companies and individuals to understand and protect their IP in Russia.’
