Simmons & Simmons expands in Germany

Addition to Frankfurt office reflects strong client demand in employment and labour services.

The Frankfurt office of international law firm Simmons & Simmons has expanded its offering in the region with the arrival of a new partner. Dr Sascha Morgenroth will join the firm on 1 August 2019 as a partner in the Employment team to head up the German employment practice.

Labour focus

Dr Morgenroth brings with him a team, including Associate Kerstin Minge. This appointment follows the recent arrival of Michaela Sopp, who joined the firm’s Munich office last month. Dr Morgenroth brings almost 15 years’ experience in the field of employment and labour law to the firm having started his career at CMS Hasche Sigle, Hamburg, he later joined DLA Piper in Frankfurt where he was last working as a partner focused on employment and labour law.Throughout his career Sascha has gained extensive experience advising blue chip and mid-cap national and international businesses, including senior members of management on all aspects of German employment and labour law, with a focus on clients in the financial services, life sciences and technology sectors. The firm says the appointment is a response to a continuous strong demand for employment and labour law services from both German and international clients in its core sectors and at the same time expanding and further strengthening the existing team.

Rising star

Commenting on the appointment, international head of employment, Julian Taylor said “Sascha has considerable expertise and passion for the profession and will be a valuable addition to our firm, and the Employment Group in particular. We are confident that he will strengthen the position of our Employment team and boost the growth of our German practice.” German country head and partner, Dr Hans-Hermann Aldenhoff added: “He is not only a well-known rising star in the local market, but a perfect match with both our existing Employment team, and our compliance and investigations team where we have seen enormous demand for a considerable time now.
