Six UK firms slot onto car accident compensation panel

The UK's Motor Insurers' Bureau - the body that deals with claims against uninsured motorists - has appointed six leading law firms to its legal panel following a recent review.
The Lawyer newspaper reports the MIB conducted a beauty parade that saw firms that had previously acted for the bureau reappointed, while some newcomers were also introduced.
Birmingham-based firm Weightmans has been retained and will deal with core claims alongside UK top-50 ranked firm Berrymans Lace Mawer. Weightmans will also handle fraud issues with commercial law firm DAC Beachcroft.
Manchester-based Horwich Farrelly and Jaggards will advise on cost negotiation; Murphy O’Rawe will cover Northern Ireland; and Simpson Marwick will look after Scotland.
MIB said it has selected a panel  to deliver ‘excellent technical service, industry leading service levels, improved management information, value for money and a robust supplier management governance framework’.
