Some lawmakers in the Russian parliament are now calling for the death penalty to be reintroduced for terrorists, following the attacks in the city of Volgograd. Mr Kucherena, who is also head of the Russian Civic Chamber's Security Committee, said: 'With these horrifying terrorist attacks, when innocent people suffer, one can understand the proponents of the death penalty. But it will not change the situation, because these attacks are often carried out by suicide bombers. There is no need for such populism when the circumstances are clear.'
