Court documents filed in Vaenersborg indicate former chief executive officer Jan-Aake Jonsson, chief financial officer Karl-Gustav Lindstroem and general counsel Kristina Geers were detained and questioned on their actions during 2010 and 2011, reports Bloomberg.
Lack of cash
According to reports in the country, the trio have been released but are still under suspicion.
The tax probe centres on incidents before Saab filed for bankruptcy in December 2011, almost two years after it was purchased by Dutch supercar-maker Spyker – which was then forced to halt production due to a lack of cash before the insolvency.
Tax authority
Olof Sahlgren, the Swedish Economic Crime Authority’s chief prosecutor, said the probe was investigating ‘measures to complicate the control operation of tax authority regarding the calculation of taxes and fees’.
Bengt-Erik Sik, Ms Geers’s lawyer, denied the accusations and said ‘we are all very shocked how this is being handled’.
Lawyers representing the other two former executives are yet to comment.
