Taylor Wessing among firms that embrace phone-based stress detector

The 1,050-lawyer firm and Gowling are two of the firms whose HR teams are encouraging staff to download a specialist app that monitors signals in the voice during phone calls, but not what is said, and alerts them if they appear stressed.

Text messages must begin with the word 'advertisement' and include a statement of the lawyer's qualifications

A focus group at Gowlings in the UK used the app over three weeks and found that stress levels dropped by over 10 per cent. The app, called Keela, has been developed by Soma Analytics. It works by measuring cognitive signals in the voice and alerting the individuals involved about high levels of stress or tiredness before the problem becomes embedded. The app can help monitor sleep patterns and give feedback. Soma says it is talking to two other law firms about its possible use. Source: Legal Cheek
