Taylor Wessing merges with Dutch firm Deterink

Taylor Wessing has announced a merger with Dutch firm Deterink, in a move that will see the firm gain two new offices in Amsterdam and Eindhoven.

Deterink is particularly known for corporate and M&A, IP, IT and employment practices. Its seven partners, who operated as part of EY Law until 2010, and 47 lawyers have been working closely with Taylor Wessing since 2011. The merger brings Taylor Wessing’s headcount to over 1,200 across 28 offices in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.  It is part of the firm’s ‘wider strategy to service the demands of our international client base’, as 34 of the firm’s top 50 clients have a presence in the Netherlands.

Focusing on the Netherlands

Other international firms have looked to the Netherlands: Fieldfisher confirmed that it was in the initial stages of launching a presence there in 2014, while Osborne Clarke opened in Amsterdam earlier this year with hires from Norton Rose Fulbright and Baker & McKenzie.
