SNR Denton, Trowers & Hamlins and Lewis Silkin will join the eight existing firms on the roster: Ashurst, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Eversheds, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith Freehills, K&L Gates, Simmons & Simmons and Wragge & Co. Previous panel law firms that did not appear on this term’s list are Bird & Bird, Clifford Chance, Manches and Travers Smith, reports Legal Week.

New Panel

The last review of TfL’s legal panel was in 2007, when Eversheds was appointed to handle its primary operational work. As a result of this year’s review, the firm will take on TfL’s legal work on a case-by-case basis. The new panel will also advise the Greater London Authority, whose in-house legal team has merged with TfL’s. The panel will work generally on commercial contracts, contractual disputes, property and regeneration, employment and routine property and highway matters.

Applications

Meanwhile, firms have also submitted applications as Connecticut-based conglomerate General Electric prepares to review its European panels, reports The Lawyer newspaper. Among the panels under review are GE’s financial services branch, GE Capital, and the European Mergers & Acquisitions panel, on which Allen & Overy, Ashurst, Slaughter and May and Weil Gotshal & Manges are current members.
