The Government has recently initiated a consultation on the proposed tie-up, which is expected to be implemented in April 2013, reports the Local Government Lawyer.

Co-located in Birmingham, the two organisations already have a close relationship with the Gambling Commission providing share services for the NLC. The Gambling Commission has confirmed it is looking for contractors to provide legal services in England and wales and possible separate contractors for work in Scotland.

Expressions of interest must be registered by 17 September, with the contract expected to last from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2017.
