The case represents the first time that a UN court has put restrictions into place on one of the spying agencies of the 'five eyes' - the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. The ruling from the Permanent Court of Arbitration relates to allegations made by East Timor that Australia ordered the bugging of East Timor government offices during negotiations for a maritime deal.  Source: Financial Times
