Weil reaffirms commitment to Texas despite lawyer losses

After dozens of lawyers have left the Weil Gotshal offices in booming Houston and Dallas, the firm has stated its commitment to the state of Texas.

The New York-based firm had announced that it was getting rid of 60 lawyers in June and reducing pay for some partners. Many people affected were in Houston and Dallas. In the last seven weeks, about 30 lawyers have joined other firms. But Glenn West, managing partner of Weil Gotshal in Dallas gave a statement to the Dallas Business Journal in which he said: 'Weil is committed to Dallas and to Texas and to the many valued clients we have in the region, in addition to our attorneys and staff here. Our Dallas team includes some of the best Private Equity, M&A, Tax, Sponsor Finance, Bankruptcy and Restructuring, and Litigation practitioners in the marketplace, who are servicing clients significant to the firm, and we have already begun executing on the firm’s strategy to grow the office in our core practice areas. I am extremely energized and enthusiastic about our office and its prospects.'
