Withers expands through Australia alliance

Withers has launched a new alliance in Australia through a link-up with Balazs Lazanas & Welch - in a venture which will target tax, corporate and immigration clients and will be called Withers SBL.

Margaret Robertson, managing director of the UK-based firm, said: 'This alliance represents a huge step forward in the development of Withers' international footprint. Australia offers a great range of opportunities for Withers, not just as a stand-alone market for successful people, but also as an integral part of the regional Asia-Pacific market.'

Immigration

As well as linking up with Sydney-based Balazs, the move brings in Justin Shmith - a former corporate partner in Ashurst who is based in Melbourne - and the hiring of immigration partner Rita Chowdhury. Ms Chowdhury will head the Withers side of the alliance. Source: Withers
