US litigation firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is offering its lawyers an opportunity to work for a week from anywhere in the world if they work hard. The firm’s chairman, John Quinn, sent a memo last week announcing the good news that those who billed over 2000 hours work last year could take advantage of the programme. The firm will donate up to $2000 towards travel which must be somewhere with 24/7 connectivity. The firm’s chairman was keen to stress that the idea was to work and that lawyers had to be available as normal.
According to his memo, ‘ We expect that you will be working, just as if you were in Manhattan, Paris or wherever, even if u are wearing a bathing suit. We need to know how to reach you at all times, instantly’.
